Broadway drops the mask

2022-06-24T13:55:22.541Z

From July 1, it will no longer be mandatory in theaters. A decision that is not unanimous.

The masks fall on Broadway: Friday, July 1, the entertainment industry in New York will allow spectators of “musicals” to settle in their seats without facial protection, signaling the end of a long health break inflicted by the Covid- 19.

The current precautionary measures dated from July 2021, and the Broadway theaters, which are not yet full, with twenty-seven shows out of a total of forty-one theaters, had only reopened last September.

Wearing a mask will now be optional, and its application reassessed each month according to health circumstances.

Tuesday, June 21, the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, announced that the level of alert had fallen a notch, from the threshold “high” to “medium”.
