Beaune / Music
The Beaune festival, from July 8 to 31.

For forty years, this festival has explored the Baroque.
In other words, long before this music came back into fashion.
But over the past ten years, it has also extended its field to romantic music, always with two specificities: the operas are given in concert version and played on period instruments.
Obviously, Händel will be honored as every year, since at least thirty of his works have already been presented in this event since its creation.
This year, the poster offers three of his operas:
Partenope, Giulio Cesare
and
Solomon
.
Another composer in the spotlight, Monteverdi with
L'Orfeo
and a small one-act play,
Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda
.
To be noted, two very fine countertenor recitals, that of the American Lawrence Zazzo and that of the Frenchman Paul-Antoine Bénos-Djian.
The closing evening will be exceptional with carte blanche given to an unforgettable artist, countertenor Andreas Scholl.
