A 15-year-old student from Salzgitter died violently, two teenagers who were even younger are considered suspects - one is now being psychiatrically examined.

The public prosecutor's office in Braunschweig accuses a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old boy of insidious murder for base motives.

The older alleged perpetrator is in custody, the younger one is not yet of criminal age.

Now it has become known that the younger of the two suspects is currently being examined by a psychiatrist.

This was announced by the youth department head of the Lower Saxony city, Dirk Haerdrich, on Thursday.

According to administrative information, the youth welfare office had submitted an urgent application to the Salzgitter family court on Wednesday for the 13-year-old to be placed in a child and adolescent psychiatric facility.
