The U.S. Supreme Court overturned the "Roe v. Wade" ruling, which allows states to allow abortions.
The opinion is an unequivocal step against a 1973 decision that guaranteed federal constitutional protections for abortion rights as well as against a subsequent 1992 decision called "Planned Parenthood Against Casey" - which largely preserved the right.
"Row v. Wade's ruling was a big mistake from the beginning," Judge Samuel Alito wrote.
