The one the Anglo-Saxons call "aloha shirt" was born in the 1920s, in Hawaii.
The Japanese are said to have started making shirts there from fine cotton printed with colorful Indo-Pacific patterns.
The Hawaiian shirt gradually seduced Americans during the 1940s. When GIs returned to the continent, it even became an exotic must-have.
A phenomenon that had also occurred for the madras shirt that the English wore in the Caribbean and that wealthy Americans adopted.
With the 1950s came the discovery of relaxed driving in beautifully designed Cadillacs.
The Hawaiian shirt then imposed itself before disappearing, then returning in the 1980s, thanks to the success of the
Magnum series.
