The 2022 G7 summit in Elmau is imminent.
The police are on site with a large contingent - and quartered themselves in a hut.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen - The federal police have rented the Meilerhütte of the German Alpine Association for the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau for themselves.
The hut of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen section, located in the Wetterstein Mountains at an altitude of 2366 meters, is on the border with Austria and almost above the valley in which the conference venue is located.
The castle can be reached from the hut in a five-hour hike at normal times.

The hut, which according to the website has around 80 beds, is used exclusively by the federal police, officials said.
It will remain closed to hikers and will not open to guests until July 1st.
The federal police also use the Ederkanzel mountain hut, which can be reached from the Mittenwald side.
However, this hut is still open to the public.

The state police have also rented huts, including 14 private and unmanaged huts in the security area around Schloss Elmau, which has been cordoned off since Sunday.
They are intended to serve as bases for officials in action.
Outside the four square kilometer security area, only forest service huts and two traditional costume association huts were rented, the police explained.

The famous Partnach Gorge remains closed.
It is closed to visitors from Friday.
