Gilching - After a long dry spell, Gilching is turning back into an Italian promenade and pleasure mile.

The reason for this is the Festa Italiana, which is celebrating a milestone anniversary this year.

"We are very pleased that after a two-year Corona break, the Festa Italiana can take place again on the market square in Gilching. This year we are expecting guests from Italy and look forward to welcoming everyone," explains Mayor Manfred Walter.

Since 1989, the municipality of Gilching has maintained an active partnership with the Tuscan town of Cecina.

In 1992 the first Italian festival took place in Gilching.

At that time it was still called "Italian Week".

Gilching is thus celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Festa Italiana this year.

The municipality of Gilching, as organizer, in cooperation with the association for the promotion of the partnership Cecina-Gilching e.

V. once again organized a festival for young and old.

There is a lot of music, dancing and all kinds of culinary delights!

It starts on Friday, July 8th.

from 4 p.m.: numerous stands offer a wide range of drinks and delicious Italian and international specialties.

Surrounded by dance performances by the Gilching Dance Center, the mayor, Manfred Walter, officially opens the Festa Italiana at 5 p.m.

In the evening, the marching band and fanfare band Edelweiß Gilching plays.

Then the band Musica Ribelle will perform and, just like before the Corona years, ensure a relaxed and great atmosphere.

On Saturday, the hustle and bustle on the market begins at 12 noon.

In the afternoon, the stage belongs to various dance and martial arts groups as well as the Gilching brass band.

Later in the evening, the trio around Nico Bevilacqua inspires the audience with Italian hits to dance and sing along to.

On Sunday at 11 a.m. the Cecina association invites you to the traditional white sausage breakfast with hearty music.

On Sunday evening, the Bruno Renzi Trio will bring the festival to a close with music.

There is also something for children during the festival: handicrafts and face painting in the workshop at the market, color dancers and walking acts as well as a carousel.

In addition, there will be an exhibition by Jochen Pabst (Königsdorf) and Matthias Pommer during the Festa Italiana in the town hall.

Photographs and paintings from Tuscany are on display.
