Around 1,750 people have found refuge in the Freising district since the beginning of the war against Ukraine.
A new website aims to help them find their way around.
Freising
– When Russian troops invaded Ukraine on February 24, millions of people had to flee their home country within a short period of time.
More than 1000 of them came to the district of Freising, where committed citizens in almost all municipalities have networked via online platforms, among other things, to help.
The Freising-based company Kasper Communications has now teamed up with the software developer Ubilabs from Munich to use “Refugeo” to give refugees an overview of the help offered in the district.
Map can be used without internet
Using the map application refugeo.com, which can be used free of charge and even without internet, you can find contacts and addresses for various contact points using various categories such as authorities, leisure activities, catering or education.
These include, for example, town halls, the Tafel, language courses, telephone counseling, doctors, leisure activities such as sports clubs or playgrounds, clothing stores, but also contact points for jobs and legal advice.
There are instructions, for example, whether pets are allowed, whether WiFi is available or whether a facility is free of charge.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
"Refugeo is currently available as a beta version," explains Managing Director Michael Kasper.
Anyone who currently selects the various areas will find a few addresses, but not the full range of services in the district - mainly because many new contact points have emerged in recent months.
"The whole thing is far from being completely filled, so we need the support of the population." There is therefore a link on the start page that users can use to submit further positions in all 24 district municipalities in order to expand the network of offers in the coming weeks increase bit by bit.
Map currently in German, English and Ukrainian
So far, Refugeo has been available in German, English and Ukrainian.
"However, this can also be displayed in any other language if required," says Kasper.
Because the application should be useful for all people who have fled or are looking for help and who need guidance.
