The Feldafinger municipal council voted unanimously for the Technical University of Munich's plans for the Hans-Albers-Villa site on Lake Starnberg.

The university now only wants to use a certain part of the area.

Feldafing – On Tuesday, the Feldafing municipal council unanimously approved the plans of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) on the Hans-Albers-Villa site in Garatshausen.

"A great sign," commented Mayor Bernhard Sontheim on the decision.

After all, the project had encountered a fair amount of opposition from the “Albers for everyone” petition by Tutzing residents Lucie Vorlickova and Stefanie Knittl.

In the run-up to the meeting, the two also wrote to all municipal councils and asked them to comment on the matter.

They accuse Sontheim of going it alone.

Before the clear vote, representatives of the TUM named some new details - even if their planning is still in its infancy.

A third of the villa area should be accessible to citizens all year round.

It is mainly about one strip each in the western and southern area.

A small memorial is planned in the north-west, which – also in relation to Albers' partner Hansi Burg – is intended to set an example against anti-Semitism and racism.

The previous cul-de-sac, at the end of which you can see the former home of the star actor, is to be lengthened and end at a wooden platform.

The interior with the house and park will be open on Sunday afternoons from May to September.

"But the TUM does not finance any security and lock service," clarified the representative of the university, Prof. Arnulf Melzer.

The TUM wants to create more lake views on the site, wood and bushes should give way and thus allow the reeds to return.

Melzer knows all about that.

The limnologist has dealt intensively with the ecology of aquatic plants and also with the massive decline in reeds on Lake Starnberg.

He has been retired for nine years, but is still active for TUM - as the President's authorized representative for fundraising and as the representative for the project in Garatshausen.

Melzer, who grew up in Tutzing, praised the settlement of the young academy of the university in the municipal council.

The scholarship holders (and the so-called Germany scholarship holders) and their socio-political projects are an enrichment for the region.

“Be curious about these young people.

You will also involve the locals,

they will come to the municipal council and ask questions,” said Melzer.

Garbage collection projects, work with people with disabilities and civil courage courses are also planned.

Imke Schmid, district spokeswoman for Garatshausen, said: "The citizens are happy that the TUM is taking over the property."

Petitioners Vorlickova and Knittl had a different impression of public opinion.

In a statement, they reacted to the decision on Tuesday: "The mayor, municipal council and local spokeswoman have unanimously decided against the well-known will of the citizens after the non-profit opening of the Albers property."

An important novelty: Contrary to original plans, TUM will only redesign and use the actual 1.3 hectare villa property.

The cattle pasture next door (1.4 hectares), initially designated in the concept as a memorial site called "Hansi-Burg-Hans-Albers-Park", is "not part of the current planning", says landscape planner Dr.

Michael Schober on Merkur request.

In terms of construction, TUM wants (and has to) proceed very cautiously in the landscape protection area.

The new seminar building should not exceed the height of the existing building.

"The area and shape have not yet been determined, as there are still discussions to be held with the monument protection and nature conservation authorities," says Schober.

Five to seven parking spaces are planned along the driveway.

To compensate, the TUM wants to preserve and promote species-rich areas, renew the orchard and make the rose garden visible again.

Around 15 sleeping places are to be created for students, and there will be events with and without overnight stays, explained Melzer.

According to him, the TUM wants to start preparing the garden in autumn - if the coordination with the authorities has been completed by then.

It will certainly take even longer before construction begins on the Albers site.

AUF councilor Michael Keltsch emphasized: "It is extremely important that we manage to dovetail, that the new place identifies with the community." He gave a negative example: the "Global Leadership Center" from Siemens in Feldafing, which is a closed community without any real connection to the region.
