Security officials in Israel said today (Friday) that the Mossad has recently managed to uncover three Iranian terrorist cells in Turkey, which were targeted at three different attacks.

The Iranians were arrested at a hotel and in hiding apartments by the Turkish intelligence organization on suspicion of planning to fire at the diplomat and his wife who were staying at the hotel in Istanbul.
It was also reported that the Mossad evacuated Israelis who were targets in a private plane back to Israel.
During a search of the hiding apartments, two silencers, two pistols, many documents and digital materials were seized.

This is the first time that the Turkish press has published details about the Iranian terrorist attacks against Israelis in Turkey since the publication of the travel warning from Israel a few weeks ago.

Because the arrest of the Iranian terrorist cell in Turkey removed some of the dimensions of the threat of an attack against Israelis in Istanbul, but the threat has not been completely removed as more Iranian terrorist cells are still operating on the ground.
"We are on the right path and it may be the beginning of the end but the incident is not over and unfinished. We have not removed the whole threat," the senior security official said.
"There is still the presence of Iranian terrorists in Turkey. There is more than one cell. This is not back to normal and we are not lowering the travel warning."
The senior security source noted that Israel was not surprised by the publication in the Turkish media this morning.
Israel has been informed in advance that things will be published and has not expressed any opposition.
The security source stressed that in the last two weeks, many overt and covert measures have been taken in cooperation between the security services of Israel and Turkey, which led to the arrests of the Iranian terrorist cell.
"We are in constant contact with the Turks. We have no surprises with them. The Turks deserve a lot of credit," the senior security official said.
