At the end of the European summit which has been held since Thursday in Brussels, Emmanuel Macron declared that he wanted to build "constructive majorities", as in Germany or Italy, with "all the government parties".

"I think that's what Italy and Germany are doing and that's what we will do (…) with all the parties in government, to be able to build either a coalition or (a) agreement on texts to move forward on a clear agenda", he declared after a European summit.

Earlier this week, Emmanuel Macron had received all the leaders of the main political forces.

Meetings that preceded a televised address in which he said he wanted to "find a larger and clearer majority to act" and at the end of which the idea of ​​a government of national unity had been excluded by the oppositions.

“France knows how to compromise.

The question of energy

During his speech this Friday, Emmanuel Macron also returned to the issue of energy.

“We need a European gas and electricity strategy.

Emmanuel Macron also took advantage of this press conference to return to the project for a European political community which "will bring together partners on subjects including defense".

He announced that the first meeting of this political community would take place in the Czech Republic on July 1, with Prague taking over the presidency of the European Union (EU).

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel also “greeted the French EU Presidency”.

"The work has been gigantic, especially at the political level, and it will continue," said Charles Michel.
