The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the liberation of the Gorskoye and Zolotoy regions near Lyschansk in the Lugansk People's Republic by Russian and Lugansk Republic forces.
Today, the Russia Today website quoted Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov as saying, "The southern grouping of forces has completed the defeat of the besieged gathering of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Gorsky cauldron... Russian forces and units of the People's Forces of the Lugansk People's Republic have liberated the Gorskoye and Zolotoy regions."
Meanwhile, according to Konashenkov, units of the Russian forces liberated 11 residential areas in five days, broke through the defense of the fortified Ukrainian forces, and besieged the city of Lyschansk from the south.
On the other hand, Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs of the Lugansk People's Republic Vitaly Kiselyov revealed that the Ukrainian army had taken about 600 civilians hostage at the "Azot" plant in Severodonetsk.
