Fire brigades and rescue services in Gauting are increasingly dealing with careless car owners who park their vehicles in such a way that the rescuers can no longer get through.

The military and the municipality rely on reconnaissance.

Gauting – “Just parked the car for a moment?

In an emergency, every second counts!” This is the warning from the local fire brigades in the Gauting municipality on their new flyer.

Drivers who park in narrow streets and thus block the escape routes now receive a "red card" with a polite appeal pinned to their windscreen, explains Gauting's regulatory office and manager, Dr.

Michael Groth at a press event in the town hall.

On the front of the flyer you can see a Gautinger fire engine that is stuck next to the parked Audi.

The photo was taken in the 30s area of Bergstrasse, explains Groth.

Gauting's commander Alexander Jung drove out of the hall with the fire engine on a summer evening and documented the parked escape route.

He "measured", Groth continues.

Instead of the prescribed minimum width of three meters, the driver only left 2.7 meters for rescue vehicles.

Such situations with inconsiderate car owners can be found all over Gauting, explains Alexander Jung.

In the spring of 2021, during a night-time operation in the Hangstrasse/Kreuzstrasse area, he actually got stuck with the fire engine because the intersection was full of parked cars.

Fortunately, this operation was not urgent - the Gautinger fire brigade was alerted because of a flooded basement.

But it's unimaginable when people have to be rescued in the event of a fire, says the commander.

Outside of the bans on stopping, the rescue routes in the Gautinger Badviertel are also regularly parked.

In the Stockdorf district, there are regular problems with stationary traffic at the Himbselweg/Wellweg narrow point near the TV site, reports the local commander, Michael Suhrbier.

In Buchendorf Am Weiher and on Neurieder Straße he has “a few candidates” who parked there in a staggered manner in order to “slow down” the through traffic, says the commander there, Florian Stoll.

Rescue, but also agricultural vehicles would be hampered.

There are more jobs.

In Gauting on the garden promenade there is also "the bad habit" that residents park in a staggered manner.

Because: The environmental, energy and transport committee rejected the desired residential street, reminds Mayor Dr.

Brigitte Koessinger.

But if someone there suffers a heart attack, the rescue vehicle can no longer get through.

Then finally count every minute.

The voluntary emergency services would also have to get to the fire station quickly if they were alerted and would be hindered, the Gautinger fire brigade board member Martin Strasser asks for more consideration.

The main problem is simply the increasing stationary traffic, summarizes the head of the public order office, Groth.

Instead of sending the police or the municipal traffic control over to hand out traffic tickets, the five local fire brigades and the community are showing mutual consideration with their community campaign: "Help save lives and pay attention to a clearance of at least three meters when parking", appeal the fire brigades.
