The city of Vigo in Galicia promises a hefty fine to those who, at the beach, give in to a pressing desire in the water or on the sand.

Small needs, big fine.

In the Spanish seaside resort of Vigo, in Galicia, there is no question of relieving yourself in the Atlantic Ocean.

Since June 15, 2022, those who risk urinating on the beach or in the water are liable to a fine of €750, as reported by the television channel Antena 3. For the municipality, such an act constitutes a breach of hygiene rules as well as a lack of civility and good manners.

In return, she promised the installation of accessible public toilets during the summer season.

€750 fine

This new rule is accompanied by a series of measures intended to improve the comfort of summer visitors.

Among them, the prohibition to use soap in the showers of the beaches, to leave waste on the sand or to grill there.

Also becomes illegal a particularly annoying behavior: the fact of depositing a deck chair to appropriate it for the day.

The smart guys who think they can reserve the best seats will be liable to a fine of 30 euros.

The town hall of Vigo has not specified how it intends to enforce these bans, and in particular the ban on urinating in water.

Who knows, maybe policemen in bathing suits will camp on the beach to check the purity of the water...
