The day before yesterday afternoon, detectives from the Police Drug Investigation Division raided a warehouse on Tongren San Chuen Road, Yuen Long, and found three men and a temporary prefab house of about 7,000 square feet in the warehouse.

Detectives found 258 cannabis plants weighing about 88.9 kilograms and 7.6 kilograms of cannabis products in the temporary modular house. The officers arrested three men on charges of "growing marijuana" and "trafficking dangerous drugs."

During the operation, the police successfully prevented a batch of drugs from flowing into the local market and cracked down on the source of income for criminals.

Police continued to search the two units yesterday afternoon and early this morning, and seized 103 cannabis plants weighing 0.8 kilograms in total. Officers arrested two other men on charges of "growing marijuana" and "trafficking dangerous drugs."

Tan pointed out that the roles of the 5 arrested men in the case are 1 group master, 2 key members and 2 cannabis farmers. Among them, 3 arrested men have been charged with related crimes and were filed at the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Court this afternoon. In court, the other two are still being detained and will be charged with related crimes.

Tan Weinuo said that in recent years, there has been a trend of younger people smoking marijuana. In 2020, 191 people were arrested for marijuana-related crimes. Last year, the number rose to 257, an increase of 34.6% year-on-year.

From January to April this year, 75 people were arrested, and police found criminals who misled young people into using marijuana by claiming that marijuana was not harmful to the body.
