The Food and Health Bureau announced tonight (24th) that three new measures will be implemented with immediate effect to prevent speculating in designated quarantine hotel rooms: travel agents are not allowed to reserve hotel rooms without reservations from guests; hotels must ensure that the “real-name system” is adopted ” and pay the full room rate immediately; the hotel must require the travel agent to list the itemized fees on the receipt issued to the guest.
The bureau also announced three new hotels under the eighth round of the designated quarantine hotel plan, bringing the total to 65, providing about 24,000 rooms.

The bureau stated that it has always closely monitored the operation of the designated quarantine hotel program. Recently, it has found that there is speculation in the designated quarantine hotel rooms in the market. After discussions with the hotel industry, the following measures will be implemented immediately to prevent speculation in hotel rooms:
(1) The designated quarantine hotel shall require its cooperating travel agent not to reserve a hotel room without a guest reservation, and the travel agent shall immediately provide the hotel with the relevant information of the guest and pay for the full amount of the room when making a reservation with the hotel. cost;
(2) The hotel must ensure that any person booking a hotel room adopts the "real-name system" and pays the full room fee immediately.
The hotel should also have a reasonable and transparent refund policy; and
(3) The hotel shall require the travel agent to list each itemized fee on the receipt issued to the guest, and ensure that the hotel room fee charged by the travel agent to the guest is consistent with the fee listed on the government website.
A government spokesman said that the Government's implementation of the Designated Quarantine Hotel Scheme is aimed at strengthening the prevention and control of foreign imports.
The authorities said they will continue to closely monitor the situation and take appropriate action if irregularities are identified.
Ting Lan Ju, Wenyue Wine and Hong Kong Prince Hotel become quarantine hotels
After the initial list of the eighth round of designated quarantine hotels was announced on the 16th of this month, the authorities announced today the list of three more hotels, including Ting Lan Ju in Tsuen Wan, Moon Hotel in Wan Chai and Prince Hotel Hong Kong in Yau Tsim Mong District. , these three hotels can join the plan after evaluation, and will start accepting reservations one after another from tomorrow (25th), providing a total of about 900 additional rooms.
The eighth round of the designated quarantine hotel plan will be implemented from August 1 to October 31. The government said it is continuing to approve applications from other hotels and will make an announcement when the relevant work is completed.
Together with the hotels announced today, there are 65 hotels designated for the eighth round of quarantine, providing about 24,000 rooms.
