Four months after the collision between two S-Bahn trains in Schäftlarn near Munich, there is evidence that the train driver made a mistake.
Schäftlarn
– Four months after the collision of two S 7 S-Bahn trains near Schäftlarn, there are increasing indications that a train driver made a mistake.
According to an interim report by the Federal Bureau of Railway Accident Investigation (EBU), which has been available on the Internet since yesterday, the 54-year-old train driver on the Munich-bound S-Bahn is said to have "inadmissibly" passed the exit signal showing the stop.
the train was then forced to brake, the train driver canceled the so-called PZB emergency braking and continued the journey "without having previously informed the responsible dispatcher via train radio," according to the EBU report.
Schäftlarn S-Bahn accident: collision at 57 km/h
At 4:35 p.m. on February 14th, there was a collision at a speed of 57 km/h north of the Ebenhausen-Schäftlarn station with a stationary S-Bahn that was traveling in the direction of Wolfratshausen.
An Afghan asylum seeker sitting at the front of the train died, ten people were seriously injured and 47 people were slightly injured.
The report states that the evaluation of the journey registration revealed another breach of duty by the train driver.

After the S-Bahn accident in Schäftlarn: engine drivers should be better trained
In front of the Ebenhausen-Schäftlarn station, he had already eliminated an emergency brake by pressing a free button without notifying the dispatcher as required.
The EBU report suggests better training for train drivers.
A technical supplement, after which an emergency braking cannot be resolved immediately, is also conceivable.
The public prosecutor's office must decide whether to charge the train driver, who comes from the Fürstenfeldbruck area.
