1. One year after the Surfside tragedy: what has changed?

A section of the Champlain Towers South condominium building collapsed on June 24, 2021 while many residents slept, an as-yet-unexplained tragedy that shattered the small community of Surfside near Miami.

The 98 victims of the tragedy ranged in age from 1 to 92, and came from all over the world, from members of a close-knit Jewish community to families as far afield as Argentina, Paraguay and Colombia.

4. This was the rescue of the swimmer Anita Alvarez from the bottom of a pool

American swimmer Anita Alvarez was pulled from the bottom of the pool by her coach at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary after losing consciousness.

Trainer Andrea Fuentes jumped into the pool after seeing the 25-year-old artistic swimmer sink to the bottom at the end of her routine in the women's solo free event.
