What will these last three episodes be about?
🚨
SPOILER
: If you haven't seen the first part of the fourth season, skip this part of the article.
The remaining episodes of the fourth season of "Stranger Things" are expected to be an epic and pitched battle to defeat Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
This Machiavellian character is inspired by characters from cult horror films from the 1980s and 1990s, such as Freddie Krueger, Pinhead, and Pennywise (
It
).
He is so feared because he kills his victims through telepathic powers and every time one of them dies, he opens a portal with the
Upside Down
.
His name, as well as that of the
demogorgon
, derives from the game the protagonists have played since the first season, "Dungeons & Dragons".
According to the game's YouTube channel, the character has been a part of "D&D" history forever.
It is about a
lich
(like a mummy or an undead with magical powers) converted to a god who after his death left two artifacts that grant power to any player: his left eye and his left hand.
Who is Vecna, the villain of this season of
Stranger Things
?
The physiognomy of this character from "Dungeons & Dragons" is very similar to how he appears in "Stranger Things": a cadaverous creature, with a disgusting appearance and with a series of tentacles —to call them in some way— that connect his body with the organism that is the
Upside Down.
Contrary to the original Vecna, the one from
Stranger Things
is a villain who revels in people's traumas (much like what
Pennywise
does to his victims).
Power and pleasure that he discovered in his childhood by entering the mind of his family, discovering his darkest secrets and based on this, leading them to terrifying hallucinations.
This "power" led him to be the pillar (patient 001) of the Hawkins National Laboratory, where he meets "Papa", Dr. Brenner.
Therefore, Vecna (whose name is Henry Creel) met Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), with whom he formed a personal relationship which led the then girl to help him escape from the compound, but not before leaving a trail of chaos and a lot of blood.
Something surprising about this monster is that its Achilles heel is music, so in this season, the soundtrack takes on a special role.
One of the songs that has caused the most stir is "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush, which was decisive for the scene in which Max (Sadie Sink) manages to free himself from the clutches of this villain.
Will Eleven and her friends be able to defeat Vecna?
We will see this in the second part of the series.
