A Geretsrieder had been drinking a lot when he was caught by the police on an e-scooter.

He got the receipt in court.

Geretsried/Wolfratshausen – The defendant took the matter calmly.

"What do you want me to defend myself with?" he asked, shrugging as the judge gave him the last chance to plead his defense.

"I was driving." On February 14 of this year at 6:25 p.m., to be precise, with his e-scooter - and a blood alcohol content of 1.87 per thousand, as a sample taken 30 minutes later showed.

The receipt: 1200 euros fine.

Geretsried: police check because insurance number plate was missing

The 52-year-old was checked by a patrol car because the e-scooter he was driving through Elbestraße in Geretsried lacked the insurance number.

An alcohol flag blew towards the officials, so they had Geretsrieder blow into the alcohol dispenser.

The result: almost 1.9 per thousand.

"We were amazed that he had so much blood alcohol," said a police officer as a witness in court.

"Didn't you realize that you were drunk?" the judge wanted to know.

"Yes," the accused replied dryly.

"But I can take a lot more," he added, explaining how it came about.

He met a friend while shopping.

"We drank a little in front of the store, vodka, four to five pieces, from Stamperl bottles," the accused recalled.

The court imposed a fine and a driving ban

Judge Helmut Berger followed the prosecutor's request and sentenced the lathe operator to a fine of 60 daily rates of 20 euros each.

The man can pay off the total of 1200 euros in installments of 100 euros each.

In addition, the judge ordered a four-month driving ban and expressly emphasized: "This also applies to e-scooters." On top of that, there was a driver's license ban of another six months.
