There was a lot of good advice and wishes for Dorfen's high school graduates at the entertaining school graduation party.

The graduates themselves also had their say.

Dorfen - "Students today, Captain Morgan - and Abi is rum", was the motto of the Dorfen high school graduates.

115 young women and men received their high school diploma on Friday.

You are the second best year to leave high school.

"Abi is glory" is how headmaster Markus Höß transformed the motto at the graduation ceremony in the auditorium.

Because the graduates definitely deserved recognition: “Five high school graduates graduate with the top grade of 1.0.

21 high school graduates have a one in front of the decimal point – 16 of them have an average of 1.5 or better,” the teacher summed up.

The average for the year was 2.14.

Höß continued to calculate with a view to the pandemic: "The students were in the home office for a total of 126 days."

In addition to knowledge, the students also learned social skills.

But what comes next?

Höß quoted Charlie Chaplin: "There are no signposts at the crossroads in life." Whether it's studying, an apprenticeship, a semester abroad or a social year, in his opinion it's important to continue learning and critically question things.

“Professionally, the high school graduates will reposition themselves.

You can sometimes fail, which in retrospect often made sense.”

2022 is an extraordinary year, said Höß: "On December 31.

Germany wants to phase out nuclear energy completely – and you’ve achieved your school goal, you’re about to receive your final certificate.” However, the headmaster wanted to add one more thing: “On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine – since then the world hasn’t been the same anymore same."

Parents' councilor Oliver Ladendorf also described the world as a place in which "the path of life" appears complex and often threatening.

He wished the high school graduates courage and determination to shape the future: “Do it better than we old people who have screwed up a lot.

And above all, enjoy the moment.”

With a lot of humor, Ludwig Kellner, Marlene Seidl and David Gasch teased their teachers.

Whether it was about language or sexual education, every pedagogical bon mot was quoted.

It was obvious that the three high school graduates enjoyed their school days, even if they admitted that the lockdown wasn't always easy: "Thank God we had enough video games.

That’s how we were able to get through the digital lessons.” Parents, students and the teaching staff all found it a relief that the graduation ceremony could take place without corona conditions.

"A bit of normality again and a full auditorium," said Höß.

Seidl thanked the parents and teachers on behalf of all her schoolmates "for the years of support and assistance".

What did you take with you from your school days apart from your school-leaving certificate?

“The courage to stay true to myself;

to be who I am and not how others expect me to be.” Now they finally have their Abitur in their pockets!

"At the same time, I'm also sad when I think about the fact that today is the last time I've seen a lot of people." Now it's time to celebrate.

The graduation trip to Croatia is coming up in a week.

"This will probably be the hottest week of our lives," announced Gasch and Kellner.
