She got in touch!
The unknown first aider that Andreas Henkel from Pfaffenhofen and his daughter (10) were looking for.
After Henkel's accident on Autobahn 8, the family wanted to thank the woman.
That worked now.
Pfaffenhofen – In an interview with the local newspaper, the doctor described what to do in the event of an accident and why laypeople need not be afraid.
When she sees the rubble on the street and the battered car on the hard shoulder, the young resident from Munich immediately knows: She wants to stop and help!
The Pfaffenhofen family father Andreas Henkel crashed his car head-on into the guardrail on the A8 between Holzkirchen and Weyarn.
Without hesitation, the woman from Munich meanders to the scene of the accident.
There she actively takes care of Andreas Henkel's ten-year-old daughter, as the father later explained (we reported).
Call in the home newspaper successful
It's been a good two weeks now.
After the accident, the Henkel family went in search of the unknown first aider – with success.
The doctor, who does not want to read her name in the newspaper, got in touch shortly after the appeal appeared in the local newspaper.
The Dachauer Nachrichten was able to establish contact.
"We thanked the first aider a thousand times," says wife and mother Sarah Henkel.
The ten-year-old daughter even made a small present.
Sarah Henkel hopes that other people will follow the example of the first aider and do the same.
“It goes without saying that helping”
"It goes without saying for me," says the first aider to the Dachauer Nachrichten.
The 31-year-old from Munich is already experienced.
She has often provided first aid after traffic accidents, she says. "I always stop when I see that the emergency services are not there yet," she says.
"We keep a little cooler head."
When she says "we" she means people with medical knowledge.
The first aider has completed her medical studies and is in the middle of her training to become a specialist in gynaecology.
She is currently working as an assistant doctor in a Munich clinic.
"In the event of an accident, without an ambulance and medical equipment on site, I can only do as much as a layman," she says.
In concrete terms, this means looking after the accident victims (box).
The woman from Munich spoke to Andreas Henkel and his daughter at the scene of the accident two weeks ago and checked whether everything was okay with the little one.
"You often don't see shock in people," says the assistant doctor.
It is therefore important to talk to the victims of the accident, to distract them.
It often happens that people who are in shock get confused, run out onto the street and collect car parts without a thought, she explains.
"It's not about doing emergency surgery on the street, it's about making sure nothing else happens."
gift has arrived
The gift from the Henkel family has now reached the first aider.
It's a picture frame decorated with colorful paper butterflies.
There is also a card with the saying: "He who has an angel as a friend need not fear the world."

As a first aider at the scene of an accident
The Munich first aider and doctor gives tips for the right behavior at the scene of the accident:
1. Drive slowly to the hard shoulder.
Stop in such a way that no other road user is endangered.
2. Secure yourself and your vehicle: Set up a warning triangle and put on a high-visibility vest.
3. Walk carefully (preferably behind the crash barrier) to the scene of the accident.
4. Secure the scene of the accident with a warning triangle and get an overview: What happened?
Who is affected?
How many first responders are there?
How many people are slightly and seriously injured?
5. Make an emergency call and, if possible, provide first aid.
6. If many people are involved in the accident, look for more first aiders, stop cars if necessary.
