In Norway, two people die in an attack - the police now assume "Islamist terror".

After the deadly shots in Oslo, the police are investigating because of “Islamic terrorism”.

The arrested suspect has a "long history of violence and threats," said the head of Norway's domestic intelligence service, Roger Berg, on Saturday evening.

The secret service has had him on their radar since 2015, on the one hand because of his possible radicalization and on the other hand because he belongs to an Islamist network.

He was questioned last month, but investigators could not identify any "violent intentions" at the time.

According to the Oslo police, the suspect is a 42-year-old Norwegian with Iranian roots.

Intelligence chief Berg said there was also information that his mental health could be affected.

So far, however, the suspect has refused to answer questions from investigators.

More and more details from the night of Saturday are now becoming public.

According to the Oslo police, the crime happened around 1 a.m. in the city center.

The scene of the crime was, among other things, a bar popular in the homosexual scene, the "London Pub".

There the man, who according to police information is said to be a Norwegian of Iranian descent, opened fire.

Two people died.

The number of injured is now 21 people.

14 of them came to various hospitals in Oslo that night.

First report from Saturday, June 25, 6 a.m.:

Oslo – An attack occurred in the Norwegian capital Oslo on the night of Saturday (June 25).

According to initial findings by the police, a man shot himself in the gay club “London Pub” and a restaurant.

Two people died and at least 19 were injured.

14 of them were admitted to hospitals.

Shortly after the crime, emergency services arrested the alleged perpetrator.

The police apparently had help from the civilian population: the suspect was probably held by several people.

Norway: Attack in Oslo – Two dead

According to operations manager Tore Barstad, the police are assuming a single perpetrator.

According to the officer on duty, Roger Hjertø, the suspect's apartment is currently being searched, it said on Saturday night (June 25).

The suspect has not yet been questioned.

Therefore, there is no information about a possible motive.

In the meantime, the emergency services announced that the man is already known to the police.

The above-mentioned club "London Pub" is considered one of the biggest meeting places for homosexual people in Oslo.

The assassination came just hours before celebrations for Pride Month in Norway.

Numerous events, including a parade, are planned for Saturday and Sunday (June 27).

The police are still checking whether the events can take place.
