They haven't been idle.

This team of car thieves, specializing in Citroën DS7 crossback SUVs, traveled the roads of Île-de-France covering the entire region, with the exception of Hauts-de-Seine.

Between March and June, eight alleged members of this gang were arrested by the gendarmes of the Research Section of Versailles (Yvelines) and indicted by an investigating judge from Versailles.

The last suspect met the magistrate this Friday, June 24 and was placed under judicial control.

The investigation begins on the last day of 2021 after a DS7 was stolen.

The case interests the gendarmes of the Research Section who study these phenomena of car thefts in organized gangs and who know the brands prized by the delinquents.

Quickly, they manage to identify two suspects in their twenties.

At the end of January 2022, a second theft was observed.

The investigators keep an eye on the criminals, already known to the courts, and identify all the members of this team which has taken on an industrial rhythm since they steal or attempt to steal three cars a night.

The vehicles are then fitted with false license plates, resold and sometimes sent to the port of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime) where they are loaded into maritime containers bound for the African continent.

Arrested in flagrante delicto in Val-de-Marne

The two alleged thieves at the head of this team were arrested in flagrante delicto on March 21 while they were raging in Champigny-sur-Marne (Val-de-Marne).

It is the police officers of the local police station who surprise them, place them in custody and hand them over to the investigators of the Research Section.

During their hearings, they dispute the facts.

Both are indicted on March 24 and remanded in custody.

This is the beginning of the downfall of this team.

Because a judicial investigation is open and four waves of arrests are scheduled.

They target the accomplices of the two men and the receivers.

The last operation took place at the beginning of this week.

In November 2021, the police had dismantled a team of thieves specializing in SUVs.

They stole cars to transport cannabis before reselling the whole thing.

Eight men aged between 40 and 55 had been arrested in Mantes-la-Jolie, Guerville, Bonnières-sur-Seine (Yvelines) but also in Villetaneuse (Seine-Saint-Denis), Gisors (Eure) and Dreux (Eure-et -Loir) and indicted.
