Electromobility is booming not only in Germany, but also throughout Europe.

These ten battery models were the most popular among buyers in the first quarter of this year.

1 / 1010th place: Hyundai Ioniq 5. Immediately after its launch last year, the South Korean SUV developed into one of the most popular electric vehicles in its class.

Thanks to 800 volts, it charges quickly and then offers a range of up to 507 kilometers.

In Europe, it sold 11,917 in the first four months of this year.

Price in Germany: from 41,900 euros.

2 / 109th place: Peugeot e-208.

French small cars have always had a lot of fans in Europe, especially in their home market of course.

This will not change in the electric age either.

The Peugeot e-208 from 2019 (range up to 450 kilometers) is one of the stars in the Stellantis Group and had sold 12,148 units across Europe by April.

Price in Germany: from 35,350 euros.

3 / 108th place: Audi Q4 e-tron.

The still relatively compact SUV came onto the market in 2021 on the VW Group’s modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and convinced many customers right from the start.

12,461 bought it in the first quarter of the year.

The maximum range is 534 kilometers.

Price in Germany: from 41,900 euros.

4 / 107th place: Renault Zoe.

The current version of the French city electric car failed the crash test (zero stars!), but with 12,963 sales in the period covered, it was very popular in Europe.

A maximum range of 395 kilometers is a respectable value in this small class.

Price in Germany: from 33,140 euros.

5 / 106th place: Hyundai Kona Electric.

In contrast to the new Ioniq 5, Hyundai has been offering the Kona with different drive versions, the electric car that has been sold since 2018 had 13,354 sales in Europe by April.

The maximum range is 484 kilometers.

Price in Germany: from 35,650 euros.

6 / 105th place: VW ID.4.

The crossover variant of the well-behaved ID.3 basic model with a larger interior and some off-road capability found 13,870 customers across Europe in the first four months.

VW is very optimistic about the range of the top version at 518 kilometers.

7 / 104th place: Kia e-Niro.

The electric version of the compact SUV, which has been available since 2016, can no longer be ordered in this form, but still managed to reach 16,032 customers in Europe by April.

The successor is called the Kia Niro EV, manages up to 460 kilometers and costs in Germany from 39,990 euros.

8 / 103rd place: Fiat 500. The current model of the small car, also known as the Fiat 500e or Fiat 500 Elektro, is only offered as an electric car.

In the first quarter of this year, it was the most successful Stromer from the Stellantis group with 18,537 customers.

Depending on the size of the battery, the city runabout can cover 190 to over 300 kilometers.

Price in Germany: from 26,790 euros.

9 / 102nd place: Tesla Model Y. The hatchback, which is now also being built at the German plant in Grünheide, has become one of the most popular electric vehicles in the world.

Tesla specifies the maximum range as 533 kilometers.

10 / 101st place: Tesla Model 3. The entry-level model from the electric car pioneer completes the triumph: 1st and 2nd place for the Texans, even if the small Fiat 500 is hot on their heels.

The Model 3 clearly secured pole position with 32,697 sales.

According to the factory specification, the range is up to 547 kilometers.

Price in Germany: from 52,965 euros.

Berlin – The whole of Europe is changing: If the internal combustion engine in new cars is banned across the EU in 2035, most drivers will probably be driving electrically for a long time.

This does not only apply to Germany and especially the Scandinavian countries, which have been pioneers for years.

In the Mediterranean countries, too, driving with electricity is increasingly finding its followers: According to a study by the Hamburg consulting firm Pawlik, the willingness to switch to electric vehicles is now even higher there than among German drivers.

The number of charging stations also results in an acceptable network across Europe.

The top ten ranking shows some clear differences to Germany across Europe.

For example, while the VW e-Up, which is very popular in this country, cannot be found there, the Fiat 500 ranks significantly higher in Europe.

Tesla has two instead of one model in the hit list.

However, the Model 3 has taken it to the top in both cases – however, it is being pressured across Europe by the Fiat 500, which in April even achieved nine times the number of sales as the American sedan.
