It was her big day: On Friday, 93 high school graduates from the Anne Frank High School received their high school diplomas.

The celebration took place at noon in the school auditorium, and in the evening there was a celebration in the town hall.

Erding - Most high school graduates came to school with their parents to pick up the coveted document that gives them access to many career and training opportunities as a "crazy year".

In her closing speech, headmaster Regine Hofmann emphasized that this year's Abitur class had broken many records: "Not only did all 93 young people who took the exam also achieved their goal.

41 of them have a one before the decimal point.

That is at least 45 percent, 24 have an average of up to 1.4, and at least nine got the dream grade of 1.0.” This result was only possible thanks to the good teamwork between teachers and parents.

Special thanks go to the upper school supervisors Elisabeth Ringler and Alexander Wolf.

In addition to all the joy about the successful conclusion, Hofmann also recalled the difficult time during the pandemic, “the fear that maybe we wouldn’t make it.

Because you are the first high school year that we release into an uncertain future".

In order to be able to deal with this fear more calmly, the headmistress gave the high school graduates three tips: “Whatever helps is to talk, to deal with the facts and to have a discussion about them.

It can also be beneficial and relieving to find yourself, now more than ever.”

Parents' council chairman Ralf Wawerla emphasized the value of education, which is often only recognized and appreciated later.

And he advised the graduates “not to fall into the same thinking traps as some generations before you.

Knowledge and conscience only work in combination.

And try to assess your position correctly, because the greatest danger nowadays lies between utopia and real goal".

After all, they are now well prepared for the future: "You can become something with it, even mayor," says Wawerla.

The person addressed, once a student here himself, thanked everyone who had contributed to the success for the work they had done.

Mayor Max Gotz particularly praised the fact that the grammar school not only obstinately worked through curricula, but also left plenty of room for creativity.

"Here," he added with a smile, "there wasn't work to rule - although I would be quite happy if at least that happened elsewhere".

Deputy District Administrator Franz Hofstetter recognized the outstanding achievements of everyone in a difficult time: "You have mastered it brilliantly." Exciting times are now ahead of everyone, and although the Anne Frank High School has long been the second home for many, " Set them free now."

When laughter broke out in the audience, Hofstetter strictly rejected conclusions about his own school days.

The award ceremony was musically designed by Noemi Schaaf and Anna Kraus (both clarinet), Severin Müller (accordion) and Viktoria Scharl (violin).

Afterwards the atmosphere at the champagne reception in the playground was exuberant.
