Munich/Garmisch-Partenkirchen – The preparations in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the surrounding area went on for months, the first large demonstration has already taken place in Munich – now the time has come.

The G7 summit in Elmau officially begins on Sunday, June 26th.

US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Bavaria on Saturday evening, June 25th.

Until Tuesday, June 28th, the representatives of the most important industrial nations will come together in the tranquil south of Bavaria.

For three days, the participants at the G7 summit in Elmau will then discuss the Ukraine war, the climate crisis, the state of the world economy and global cohesion between democracies - the agenda of this year's G7 summit is extensive.

The message came on Saturday afternoon: Joe Biden is on his way to Munich.

The US President is expected to arrive at Munich Airport in the late evening, around 10.45 p.m., with the famous Air Force One.

There, Bavaria's Prime Minister Dr.

Markus Söder (CSU) in reception.

Afterwards, the helicopter will take you to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

This marks the beginning of his journey to Munich and the G7 summit.

Emmanuel Macron is expected to arrive around 8 p.m.

The French President will also arrive in Bavaria on Saturday evening, one day before the summit meeting officially begins.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and host of this year's summit meeting will also be there from Saturday.

The rest of the G7 leaders will arrive on Sunday: Mario Draghi (Italy), Fumio Kishida (Japan), Boris Johnson (UK) and Justin Trudeau (Canada).

Ursula von der Leyen (European Commission) and Charles Michel (European Council) will also take part.

The first important events at the G7 summit took place on Saturday: in Munich, 15 organizations had called for a major demonstration as part of the top political meeting, and around noon the international media center in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was opened.

The summit officially begins on Sunday, June 26th.

Even before that, Scholz and Biden will meet for bilateral talks.

The first joint talks between the G7 members then follow in the course of the day.
