Nuremberg – A young man from Nuremberg experienced an ugly police encounter on Friday afternoon, June 24, in the city center.

Previously, passers-by had seen him with a pistol and called the police.

In the end, however, it turned out that the weapon was a dummy.

The 25-year-old was initially in the area of ​​the Lorenz Church in Nuremberg with a woman.

The duo is on a park bench in a green area in Pfarrgasse.

The man was there wielding a gun.

It was reported to the police by passersby around 2:15 p.m.

A large-scale operation was immediately launched to protect the population.

According to the police press release, a large number of emergency services, including units of the support command (USK), were alerted.

In the course of this, the area of ​​the green area was largely closed and secured.

According to the police report, around 3:00 p.m., the emergency services spoke to the couple “while observing their own security with service weapons drawn”.

Both were tied up.

In the course of the search, the "pistol" was also found: It quickly turned out that it was obviously a newly purchased carnival pistol.

The couple had probably inspected this after the purchase.

During police action, the 25-year-old man suffered a panic attack.

While he was still on the spot, he was treated medically by employees of the rescue service.

The couple was then able to go their separate ways – no criminal offenses could be identified.
