The secretary general of the Teachers 'Union, Ben David, and the supervisor of the Bar Natan salary will hold a follow-up meeting today, in order to prevent a strike in the last week of school. • Chairman of the teachers' union, Ran Erez:

Elementary school and kindergarten students will begin tomorrow (Sunday) the last school week of 2002. As early as this morning, negotiations will resume between the Teachers' Union and the Ministry of Finance, in a struggle to raise the salaries of teaching staff.

The secretary general of the Teachers' Union, Yaffa Ben-David, will meet with the finance commissioner, Kobi Bar-Natan, after a meeting that was defined as "businesslike" last Thursday. This is in the hope of hundreds of thousands of parents past.

It will be recalled that Yaffa Ben-David said that she "expects that the other elements in the government and in the political system will also see before their eyes the good of the system. If we do not reach agreements in the coming days - we will have to resume the struggle."

Meanwhile, the chairman of the teachers' union, Ran Erez, is threatening to suspend high school education on September 1 if the core issues, including the matriculation exam reform and the number of school days a week, are not agreed upon.

In a letter to the education minister, he attacked: "Your short term is characterized by inconsiderate activism. New unilateral flashbacks are new to the mornings, with a constant frenzy that does not allow the teaching staff, teachers, principals, supervisors and supervisors to digest them."

Erez addressed several issues, including the reform of the abolition of matriculation exams in the subjects of history, literature, the Bible and citizenship. This harms the working conditions and salaries of teachers and principals.

Erez further argued that the reform of the transition of the education system from six school days to five school days depends on the air, is not agreed in the collective agreement and does not take into account that principals are obliged to complete lesson plans and regulate teachers' working conditions for the next school year.

He added: "We do not hear your voice and do not feel any support from the Ministry of Education in the negotiations that we conduct only with the Ministry of Finance.

If you do not change your conduct as stated, and if the core issues are not agreed and settled with the teachers' organization by then - the school year in the post-primary education system will not open. "
