Yan Gang, Member of the Legislative Council Business (Third), conducted a nucleic acid test yesterday (24th) afternoon and received a preliminary positive result in the evening.
The Legislative Council Secretariat informed that Yan Gang has been conducting nucleic acid tests every day since June 23, and the test result on the 24th was preliminary positive.
He took rapid tests last night and this morning (25th) and the results were all negative.
Yan Gang's body is not unwell, and the nucleic acid test has been carried out again today, and he is waiting for the results.
Yan Gang has not been to the Legislative Council Office of the CITIC Building in the past week. The most recent date to return to the Legislative Council Complex was June 22, and he only stayed in the conference hall.
The office staff have carried out rapid tests and the results are all negative.
After assessing the risk of infection, the Legislative Council Secretariat has arranged to disinfect relevant areas and public areas of the complex.
"Hong Kong 01" earlier reported that the government's July 1 event guidelines state that "guests or their family members and drivers" are not allowed to participate in the event if they test positive or show symptoms.
Director of Marine Yuen Siu-hui's friend has been diagnosed. Yuan has been listed as a close contact and must be quarantined.
