in the south of the country, during a separate operation. .
The Malian government attributed to the Katiba Macina the massacre of 132 civilians in Diallassagou and in two surrounding localities, in the center of the country which is one of the main sources of violence which has bloodied the Sahel for years.
But the Katiba Macina, affiliated with the jihadist group Al-Qaeda, denied having killed these 132 civilians, in a press release authenticated on Friday by the American organization SITE specializing in the monitoring of radical groups.

The events in Diallassagou constitute one of the worst carnage of civilians in Mali in recent years and the latest killing in a recent series of attacks across the Sahel.
Mali has been plunged into a deep security, political and humanitarian crisis since the outbreak of independence and jihadist insurgencies in 2012 in the north.
The jihadist spread has spread to the center and neighboring countries, Burkina Faso and Niger.
