The battle in the Likud is gaining momentum, ahead of the primaries for the Likud list for the next Knesset.

Competing in primaries through districts such as Ganesh Dan, Tel Aviv, Galilee Emekim and more is considered easier than in national primaries, since in the national contest 140,000 Likud functionaries are elected, while the districts are chosen by members of the Likud Center alone.

Likud regulations stipulate that those who have served as members of the Knesset for more than six months cannot run in the districts and are required to run in the national primaries.

Katz and Bitan plan to produce a broad group of center members who will agree on a deal for the candidates in the districts and thus succeed in getting people on their behalf who are considered loyal to them into the Knesset.

On the other hand, Haim Katz and Netanyahu tend to support the initiative to change the regulations in order to allow in one way or another the spies who will serve in the Knesset for more than six months to run in the districts.
Netanyahu wants to keep the Likud list and prevent the entry of elements that will harm the list or be unfaithful to it.
Through the change, the chances of Israel Katz and Bitan entering new Knesset members decreased significantly. This is because the incumbent Knesset members have gained popularity and their chances of being elected among the center members are significantly higher compared to unrecognized activists promoted by Katz and Bitan.
