New player in the burger district: KFC opens restaurant on the A8 on Irschenberg

The Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurant chain opened its new branch on Friday at Irschenberg, just in time for the holiday season.

This will expand the commercial area at the A 8 motorway exit to include a new restaurant.

– Nobody has to suffer from hunger at the Irschenberg motorway exit.

Up to now, McDonald's, the Dinzler coffee roastery and Burger King have shared the customers at the service area. Now, with Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), another fast food restaurant and drive-in have been added.

KFC does not focus on burgers, but on poultry.

At the opening on Friday morning, to which a handful of guests of honor were invited, everything revolved around small, crispy pieces of chicken that were served on a skewer.

As reported, KFC secured the free space next to the FC Bayern fan shop in the Wendling district after the Quiksilver store had to close in March 2020 due to corona.

For Thorsten Müller, Head of Franchise Relations at KFC, this is a good opportunity: "Irschenberg is known all over Germany." In addition, KFC is on an expansion course.

In addition to the almost 200 restaurants nationwide, five more have already been added this year.

"Top location, top location"

Franchisee Nenad Brkic, who is opening his third KFC restaurant in Irschenberg after the autobahn branches in Greding (Roth district) and Parsdorf (Ebersberg district), is satisfied: "It's a top location, a top location.

It fits very well."

Space for 100 guests

According to Brkic, the size is ideal at 420 square meters.

105 square meters are allocated to the guest room, which offers space for 68 guests.

Another 32 can be seated on the 40 square meter terrace.

The 41-year-old trained restaurant specialist, who has been working with KFC since 2015, also rates the surrounding competition as positive: "We're happy."

Millions invested

Brkic and KFC have jointly invested 2.4 million euros in Irschenberg.

At the opening, another 2000 euros were added - as a donation to the municipality of Irschenberg for social purposes in the youth and senior sectors, which restaurateur Brkic presented to Mayor Klaus Meixner.

He was pleased that a new tenant could be found "after a long period of vacancy with a lot of effort and effort".

"The exposed location in Wendling was convincing in the end." The company made a good choice with the Alpine panorama.

"Now we hope that KFC feels comfortable in Irschenberg and is well received.

Because good business is also very pleasant for the residents of the community.” At the end, Pastor Tadeusz Kmiec-Forstner blessed the new premises of the restaurant.
