A policeman was killed in an attack by gunmen on a police station in central Nigeria.
"The attack targeted a police station in the Ika Oizeni district of Kogi state, which in recent months has been the target of attacks by the Iswab group, whose stronghold is located hundreds of kilometers in north-eastern Nigeria," a local police spokesman said in a statement to AFP. A policeman was killed during the attack, in addition to the destruction of part of the police station with explosives.
He added, "The police station, which repelled the attack with the arrival of reinforcements, opened an investigation to find out those responsible for the attack."
It is noteworthy that the ISSWAP group, which belongs to the terrorist organization (ISIS), launched several attacks since the beginning of the year.
