The Russian Defense Ministry announced its intention to manufacture a new missile frigate for the Pacific Fleet.
And the website of (RT) channel quoted the management of the Russian Amur Shipbuilding Factory as saying in a statement today, “Our experts will start on the first of next July the process of manufacturing a new missile frigate, coinciding with the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the factory,” noting that this ship is the third frigate that is being built. Their development, as work on the manufacture of these ships began last year after signing contracts for their development with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The length of each of the mentioned ships is about 104 meters, its width is 13 meters, and its water displacement is equivalent to 2,200 tons. These ships can move at a speed of 27 knots and travel a distance of 3,500 nautical miles in each mission.
It is noteworthy that the armament system of these ships includes platforms for launching the Russian winged Kalibr and Onyx missiles, in addition to the two AK630M systems, two 30-mm machine guns, and systems for launching torpedoes.
