The Russian Embassy in Canada described the Canadian authorities' attempts to accuse Russia of organizing a global famine, based on allegations that it prevented the export of grain from Ukraine, as cheap propaganda.
The TASS news agency quoted the Russian diplomatic mission as saying in a message posted on Twitter last night that “the continuous attempts by officials of the government of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to demonize Russia with clumsy accusations such as starving the world are an example of the search for scapegoats through cheap propaganda aimed at concealing the responsibility of the West for food insecurity.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his speech at the BRICS summit yesterday that the West's selfish actions are exacerbating the global economic crisis.
It is noteworthy that the situation in Ukraine and the wide-ranging sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union on Russia have cut off the supply of grain, which has exacerbated the food crisis in many countries around the world. Since the beginning of this year, wheat and corn prices have risen significantly.
