The dangers and negative effects of drugs in an exhibition of photographs in the central prison in Sweida

Multiple awareness messages about the dangers of drugs and their impact on the individual and society were carried by a photo exhibition organized today by the Central Prison Administration in Sweida and the Directorate of Culture in cooperation with the Association for the Welfare of Prisoners and Their Families and the Aram Forum for Culture and Arts in the governorate.

Head of As-Suwayda Central Prison, Brigadier Zain al-Abidin Muhammad, explained that the exhibition is being held on the occasion of the International Day for Drug Control, with the aim of raising awareness of its dangers and the negative effects of using this substance as a scourge that destroys the individual, family and society.

In turn, Director of Culture in As-Suwayda, Laila Abu Fakher, indicated that the exhibition is part of the activities and plan of the Cultural Center in the Central Prison in As-Suwayda to raise awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and its great harms that destroy societies, through artistic paintings.

Akram Rafea Nasr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aram Forum for Culture and Arts, pointed out that the exhibition is the product of graduates of the Second College of Fine Arts in Sweida in one of the previous batches, the Visual Communication Department, and presents a creative, cultural and visual case that can reach various segments of society to raise awareness of the dangers and harms of drugs, stressing the importance of cooperation and concerted efforts of various Entities and institutions in this context.

A cultural center was opened in the central prison in As-Suwayda last month, in implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministries of Interior and Culture to create cultural centers in prisons with the aim of raising the intellectual, educational and cultural level of inmates and transforming prisons into correctional and rehabilitation institutions, which contributes to improving their behavior through the implementation of a cultural plan that mimics their minds. Awareness, guidance and entertainment lectures.
