After the many strikes by teachers, doctors and airlines, the bus drivers resume their protest • Claim: The Minister of Transport still refuses to meet with us • The drivers' organization: 40 percent of the bus drivers were attacked while working

Are you used to sanctions in the education system?

Probably the answer is no, and yet - we have a line for you:

tomorrow (Sunday) public transport drivers will join the striking public in Israel again, creating real chaos - exactly on the day the soldiers return from their homes to IDF bases across the country, and the traffic is congested So very heavy.

The bus drivers of the transport companies Electra Afikim, Extra, Tnufa, Dan Beer Sheva and Beit Shemesh Express announced last week that they are intensifying their strike measures, due to ignoring by the Minister of Transportation, Merav Michaeli.

According to a special announcement, all the drivers of these companies will sit down this coming Sunday, following the strikes that took place last week.

The slogan of the drivers' strike is "Drivers do not have election leave - ignoring the minister endangers the lives of drivers and passengers."

The Histadrut, which represents the drivers, said: "Thousands of bus drivers and the Histadrut announced that in light of the fact that Transport Minister Merav Michaeli continues to refuse to improve their wages, ensure their safety and well-being and even meet with them - they will sit this coming Sunday, from 9 a.m. 00 ".

It is important to note that the current strike is a continuation of the drivers' sanctions from Monday this week, so they went on strike for two hours in the morning, and also that they went on strike last Friday.

300 attacks since the beginning of the year

Drivers claim that there is a huge shortage of 5,000 drivers, and that this situation puts a strain on existing drivers and creates a reality where many drivers are on the road along very long shifts to meet traffic demands.

Beyond that, drivers lament their safety situation, claiming that 40% of drivers were verbally or even physically assaulted during their work.

In this regard, according to the drivers' organization, 300 attacks have been counted this year alone.

That is - not only are drivers on the road for very long hours, but they also feel real insecurity in their workplace.

These two problems are compounded by the reality of the relatively low wages that drivers earn.

In relation to this, some sometimes have to work double shifts to bring a decent wage to their home at the end of the month.

In the past year, the drivers wanted to flatten all these allegations before Transport Minister Merav Michaeli.

However, this, they claim, ignores them, and does not even want to come to a meeting with them where they can describe to her the problems of the profession and the difficulties of the Israeli driver on the roads.

Earlier this month, bus drivers broke into a Labor faction meeting where Michaeli spoke, and protested in light of the minister's disregard for their low wages, harsh working conditions, ongoing physical harm to drivers and drivers, and Michaeli's unwillingness to meet them.
