The Abitur class of the St. Ursula High School did particularly well this year.

There were a total of 17 A's.

All the graduates received their certificates with a beaming smile.

Lenggries -

With the song "Everything I do" by Bryan Adams, the school orchestra of the St. Ursula High School in the gym at Hohenburg Castle opened the graduation ceremony on Friday morning, followed by the awarding of certificates.

And even though the supporting program for the ceremony was the same as in the days before the pandemic after two years of corona-related restrictions, one thing was different.

Because it was not the headmaster Christoph Beck who spoke the words of welcome, but he was represented in this function by Robert Huber, who was in charge of many things to do with the Abitur this year.

As is well known, the rector had to withdraw on this point, since his daughter Anastasia Beck was one of the high school graduates.

After being greeted by his colleague, Beck took the floor.

Releasing the students from school is also a special moment for him.

"After all, I've known most of you since you were kids," he said.

Nevertheless, he hopes that it is only a temporary farewell.

"I'm already looking forward to you coming back in a few years.

As FSJ students or teachers and a little later maybe also as mothers,” said Beck.

He then gave the 33 graduates his best wishes for the future: "And if things don't go so smoothly, please don't give up and look for a new path," he said.

Later, the deputy mayor of Lenggries, Franz Schöttl, and Robert Steinke from the parents' council also came briefly onto the stage decorated with golden balloons to congratulate the students on passing their Abitur.

After all, the overall performance is impressive.

The Hohenburg girls achieved an average of 1.9.

17 – i.e. about half of the students – even had a one before the decimal point.

Three achieved the top mark of 1.0.

Grade point or not: all graduates had reason to celebrate on Friday morning.

And you could see that on the beaming faces of the smartly dressed young women – and of course also on the proud faces of their parents.

Graduation ceremony in Lenggries: students showed self-made films

"Instead of swinging long speeches and reading texts here now, we do it the way students do - we just watch a video," said high school graduate Carolina Fuchs.

The high school graduates captured the fact that the past few years have not been easy in two humorous self-made short films.

Including chaotic scenes of homeschooling and the restart of face-to-face classes.

Schoolgirls, such as Maria Rest with her self-written “Lied zum Abitur” and the school band, brought musical momentum to the approximately three-hour event again and again.

Towards the end, everyone was brought onto the stage individually.

After Christoph Beck congratulated them – again with a handshake this year – the high school graduates grabbed their certificates and with a fervent “Juuuhuuuu” they held their hard-earned achievement and a sunflower in the air.
