Almost like in the old days, the high school graduates of the Weilheim high school celebrated their graduation in the Jahnhalle.

With music, guests of honor, serious and cheerful speeches.

Weilheim

- This has probably never happened before: A total of nine high school graduates achieved the dream grade of 1.0 at the Weilheim Gymnasium this year.

And that's not all, another 14 remained under 1.5.

Grade averages that will probably open every door to a career choice.

After the Abitur service, like all other graduates, they were bid farewell at the big Abitur ceremony in the Jahnhalle.

The entertaining afternoon was moderated by Director of Studies Stephan Schwertl.

And as it should be at the Weilheim High School, the music was not neglected either: Rowan Tree Hill and the high school combo with Marie Kuhar, Lukas Fendt, Tom Guzsvàny and Sebastian Meyer provided lively nuances.

Big celebration like before the pandemic

Wolfgang Taffertshofer, deputy district administrator, was pleased that the graduates had not let themselves be bought despite Corona.

"This generation, which has been through so much, is our future," he said, giving a positive outlook for the future.

Weilheim's second mayor Angelika Flock congratulated in a very warm, personal greeting and gave the advice: "Be curious!"

In addition to congratulations and words of thanks, the chairwoman of the parents' council, Bianca Heigl, also had a tip with her: Those who do university sports in the future should note that gymnastics at the universities is not done in the canteen, lecture hall or in the corridor, but in "so-called gyms" - a dig at the district council , who demolished the new gym building.

Education is more than just imparting knowledge

The high school graduates themselves had their say in the form of Paula Enders and Fabian Hruschka.

In his punchy "Referat" Fabian Hruschka had simply replaced the word "teacher" with "homework", which allowed for a few pointed allusions to the educators.

Paula Enders was initially unable to announce the evaluation of the presentation because "I forgot my grade cube and want to go into myself again".

Former headmaster Hermann Summer awarded the special prizes of the association for commitment to the school community to Antonia Siebel (in absentia) and Jan Spiegler.

In her speech, headmistress Andrea Pauline Martin described final exams as the last chapter in the history of the school.

She emphasized that grammar school education is more than just imparting knowledge.
