The World Health Organization has declared monkeypox not a global health condition.
"The monkeypox outbreak poses a health threat of grave concern, but it is not currently a global health emergency," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told AFP at today's meeting.
Monkeypox is contagious and spreads through close contact, so it can be contained relatively easily through measures such as self-isolation and personal hygiene.
