62 women presented the product of their home food and various handicrafts in the exhibition hosted by the Old City Hall in Tartous city on the Corniche.
The exhibition, which is held by the Tartous Workers Union under the title (Nawaem) and continues until next Thursday, comes according to the head of the Working Women’s Committee in the Workers’ Union, Lina Taribush, as a continuation and outcome of the project to support the economics of working women within the plan of the General Federation of Trade Unions to support and empower working women.
Tribush stated that the exhibition, which is being held for the first time in Tartous, includes various rural food products such as jams and honey, and handicrafts such as crochet, embroidery, accessories and others, noting that its aim is to support and motivate women to enter the labor market and to introduce, promote and market their products.
Among the participants in the exhibition, Sawsan Abbas, who works in the field of recycling household and environmental waste and bamboo, indicated that the public's acceptance and acceptance of her work formed an incentive for her to permanently participate in exhibitions and promotional activities because it provides her with an opportunity to sell her products, while Samia Al-Rashafi, who works in the field of wax for occasions, weddings and gifts. The exhibition is an opportunity for those interested to learn about different products from the rural handicrafts and heritage.
Engineer Kholoud Ismail, who specializes in home food industries, presented several types of jams, pickles and juices, in addition to some herbs with multiple uses. She saw in her first participation the beginning of marketing her products outside the scope of acquaintances and friends, while Suzan Khaddour, who participates in several types of home mortar, wished to set up similar exhibitions in Baniyas area, which It has a large number of employees with different types of products and crafts.
Freya L. Ahmed presented sweets, cereals and home food products, pointing out that the aim of the participation is to popularize the culture of domestic work, especially for rural women, and revive it as a folklore that is strongly attributed to its spread in various societal sectors locally and abroad.
