A 16-year-old boy, a war refugee from Ukraine, drowned today (Sunday) off the coast of Acre.
He was pulled from the water unconscious on the crimson beach in the city, a medical team performed resuscitation operations on him, but was eventually forced to determine his death.
The boy arrived in Israel with his mother three months ago and joined the local "Darsky" high school.
His mother was by his side during the resuscitation attempts, which ended in determining his death.
The facts of the Welfare Department support her at this difficult time.
The circumstances of the incident have not yet been clarified, but an initial examination shows that the drowning occurred after the hours of operation of the municipal beach rescuers.

MDA paramedic Amos Dadon said: "When we reached the beach, civilians led us to the boy who was pulled from the sea unconscious.
"He was without a pulse and without breathing and we immediately started performing advanced and prolonged resuscitation operations on it, at the end of which we had to determine his death on the spot.
" A. was forced to determine his death on the ground - after being dragged without signs of life.
