An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the Algerian state of Oran, northwest of the country, today.
And the Algerian newspaper Al-Shorouk quoted the Research Center in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics in Algeria as saying in a statement today: "The epicenter of the tremor was at a depth of 12 kilometers north of the Qedil region in the state of Oran."
The center pointed out that no casualties were recorded as a result of the tremor, while the damage was limited to materials only.
On the 25th of last month, an earthquake measuring 3.2 degrees struck the coastal state of Tidal.
