Yes, obviously.
Specifically, there are too many of us given our way of life.
The ecological impact of humanity depends in fact on two parameters: the way of life and the number of inhabitants.
If all humans lived like Americans, the planet could not support more than a billion humans.
But if all humans lived like sadhus, it could probably accommodate a hundred times more.
We cannot therefore calculate in abstracto a maximum number of humans that can live on Earth.

On the other hand, we can know where we are given the current average lifestyle.
This is the whole meaning of indicators such as the calculation of the “overshoot day”.
The "day of overshoot" determines from which moment in the year humanity has consumed all the resources produced by the planet in a year.
