From our special correspondent in Elmau
Like an air of deja vu.
With the karst mountains of the Bavarian Alps as a backdrop, the leaders of the G7 countries meet until Tuesday noon at the luxurious castle of Elmau.
The opportunity for Olaf Scholz, the host of the summit - his first of an international dimension six months after his swearing in - to pose in front of the photographers in the company of the powerful of the planet.
Yesterday, alongside Joe Biden, he urged the members of the G7 to
“act, united and determined”.
In 2015, Angela Merkel, before her guest handed her the role of "
leader of the free world
“, had lent itself to the exercise in the company of Barack Obama for an iconic photo.
With the Wetterstein massif in the background, whose summit culminates at the Zugspitze (the highest point in Germany), Angela Merkel, arms wide apart, faced a seated Barack Obama, arms also crossed along of the back of the wooden bench.
Like the illustration of an open world.
