Paranoid delirium or should we say, according to the proverb, that revenge is a dish best served cold?
This weekend, while the prestigious European Institute of Business Administration (Insead) in Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) brought together its "past students" - or former students - on Friday and Saturday, a former student excluded from the establishment in 2019 resurfaced.
On the night of Friday to Saturday, around three o'clock in the morning, this 42-year-old man invited himself to the party - which was then over - and began to degrade the premises with a shovel.
The rejected student would even have started to take off the letters of the sign of the site.
Rue Royale, on the other side of boulevard de Constance, he would also have tagged the name of the Dean of Insead on the walls of a school building…
Four shots fired at security guards
Alerted by the noise and the surveillance system, two security guards appeared.
The former student then took out a weapon resembling a revolver and fired four times at the officers before fleeing.
Alerted, the police at the Fontainebleau police station quickly tracked him down and arrested him.
He was taken into custody for assault with a weapon and damage to private property.
After verification, it turns out that the weapon used was loaded with blank cartridges.
Nevertheless, the approach of this man of Chinese origin and German nationality is worrying: he would have left Germany the same morning in a rental car to reach the imperial city, place of reunion of former students...
Fontainebleau June 25, 2022 The former Insead student expelled from school in 2019 was not invited to the reunion between former students.
Facing the investigators, he refused to answer questions.
Late Sunday morning, the Fontainebleau prosecutor, Arnaud Faugère, lifted police custody and the individual was committed to a psychiatric hospital at the request of the state representative in the department.
An expert evokes a “delirium of persecution”.
“He is on a crusade against Insead”
“What we understand is that he was dismissed from Insead in 2019 for acts of harassment, threats and violence against other students and the professional body of the school.
Since then, he has been on a crusade against Insead and its Dean, who has already filed a complaint against him for death threats on the school campus in Singapore,” says Arnaud Faugère.
The school immediately filed a complaint.
From Saturday morning, the staff cleaned the tags and covered the damage.
Late Saturday afternoon, the head of security met on site refused to comment.
Just like the management, physically absent from the premises.
One thing is certain, according to a member of the school staff, not only was the man not invited to the reunion, but he was "blacklisted".
