The ski star Christian Neureuther goes hiking with the partners of the G7 heads of government on Sunday - but Jill Biden rejects it and other first ladies are not there either.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen - The G7 summit 2022 will take place in Elmau from June 26th to 28th.
On the G7 agenda on Sunday is Nordic Walking with the ski stars Christian Neureuther and Miriam Neureuther for the partners of the heads of government.
But some First Ladies - including Jill Biden, the wife of the US President - are not there.
G7 summit 2022 in Elmau: Why Christian Neureuther is going hiking with the G7 partners
At the G7 summit in 2015, Joachim Sauer, Angela Merkel's husband, was the "star guest" of the G7 affiliate program.
At lunchtime, he used a knife and fork to teach US President Barack Obama how to eat a white sausage without the skin on - it was one of the highlights of the meeting at the time.
Chopping the Weißwurst - as real Bavarians prescribe - probably went a bit too far in front of the cameras of the world press at the time.

At this year's summit, Bavarian Christian Neureuther must uphold the traditions - or at least present the postcard idyll of Bavaria.
Because the former ski racer is going hiking on Sunday together with his daughter-in-law, the biathlete Miriam Neureuther, and the partners of the G7 participants.
Neureuther was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, so as a local and honorary citizen of the city he is an ideal tourist guide.
Because Schloss Elmau, the venue of the G7 summit, is only around ten kilometers from his home town.
According to the schedule, the Nordic walking hike around Lake Ferchensee - about four kilometers from Schloss Elmau - begins at 2 p.m.
US President Jill Biden probably preferred not to do that.
In any case, the Federal Press Office announced on Sunday that the First Lady of the USA was not traveling to the G7 summit in Germany.
Her next official appointment is apparently the NATO summit, for which she will be in the Spanish capital Madrid from June 28th to 30th.
Even at the last G7 summit in Elmau in 2015, then First Lady Michelle Obama did not come.
In 2007, on the other hand, Laura Bush, the wife of US President George W. Bush, insisted on being present at the summit in Heiligendamm.
By the way, Lyudmila Putina, Vladimir Putin's wife, was also there at the time - because Russia was part of the G8 for a time before the Crimea annexation.

In addition to US President Joe Biden, Italy's Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida also came to Bavaria without their wives.
The partner program will be a women-only group this year, because the husband of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is also missing.

A total of only four First Ladies participate.
This year, Brigitte Macron, wife of the French President, Boris Johnson's wife Carrie, Amélie Derbaudrenghien, wife of EU Council President Charles Michel and hostess Britta Ernst, wife of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, will be there.
It is her first major appearance as First Lady.
In the coming days, talks with researchers from Germany's highest environmental research station in the Schneefernerhaus and a meeting with a master violin maker from Mittenwald
