Hohenschäftlarn: The gates of the tool shed and building yard will be opened to everyone during the celebration

Hohenschäftlarn - Good things take time - this statement could apply to the newly built fire brigade equipment house and the building yard in Hohenschäftlarn.

After a long planning and construction phase, both buildings are now occupied and are to be inaugurated on Saturday, July 9th.

The construction time was 20 months and members of the fire brigade were involved in the construction until the very end.

The Facebook page of the fire brigade, for example, recently reported on the design of the youth room.

The special thing about the building: In the event of a complete power failure in the community or imminent natural disasters - whether flooding or snow chaos - citizens could find shelter here.

That has never happened in Hohenschäftlarn.

Another new feature is that hoses hanging from the ceiling would be sucked into the exhaust of starting fire-fighting vehicles, so that the hall would remain free of exhaust fumes.

In the newly established respiratory protection workshop, you can now independently check the respirator masks for leaks and fill oxygen bottles.

"A milestone"

There is also a system for the hoses: it is supposed to find possible leaks, wash the hoses and wind them up.

The Floriansjünger have prepared an impressive time-lapse of the large construction project for YouTube (keyword “Hohenschäftlarn fire brigade new building 2020 to 2021”).

"The new communal building yard and the new fire station of the Hohenschäftlarn volunteer fire department on Drotwiesenweg are a milestone for the community of Schäftlarn," says Mayor Christian Fürst enthusiastically.

There have been considerations for both new buildings since the 1970s.

It was completed at the end of last year and the inauguration is now being celebrated with all citizens on the day of the community.

First, at 10 a.m. on the feast day, both buildings will be consecrated as part of an ecumenical service by Pastors Elke Soellner and Pastors Stefan Scheifele.

Afterwards, all those interested can take a look at the premises of the fire station and the building yard.

The municipal sewage treatment plant in Kloster Schäftlarn, the municipal water tower at Steinberg and the fire brigade in Ebenhausen and Neufahrn also open their doors.
