At a “get together” in the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach, companies and job seekers from the Ukraine are to come together.

County – They don't know how long they're staying.

But as long as they are here, they want to do something: This is how integration officer Max Niedermeier sums up the mood of many refugees in the Miesbach district.

From his conversations with the helper groups that have now been activated in every community, he keeps hearing one theme in particular: “work, work, work”.

The people accommodated here would use their time wisely and would not want to be a burden on the country in which they have found refuge.

Luckily for them, they ended up in a region that is looking for just such people.

More and more companies can no longer fill vacancies due to the shortage of skilled workers, restaurateurs even involuntarily take days off because they lack the people in the kitchen and service (we reported).

According to Niedermeier, the fact that the two sides have often not yet come together is mostly due to a lack of contacts.

In order to link these, the integration officer is now planning an information evening with "Get together" on Wednesday, June 29, in the Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach, financed by the PIA (Pact for Integration and Work) and the location marketing company (SMG) district of Miesbach.

From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the ballroom, employers and job seekers will be able to talk to each other directly and thus create the basis for a job.

In order to establish as broad a network as possible, Niedermeier brought many people on board who also actively support him with the organization.

The SMG takes care of inviting the companies.

15 companies have already confirmed their participation despite the rather short-term campaign, regional manager Florian Brunner said on request.

When it comes to sectors, the healthcare sector is well represented, but there is still potential in the hotel and catering sectors.

According to Brunner, professions in which one can easily work without a good knowledge of German would be particularly suitable.

At the job center at the district office and in the employment agency in Holzkirchen, they try to convince as many job seekers as possible – not just refugees, mind you – to attend the information evening.

Meanwhile, the refugee helpers in the communities use their local contacts, stresses Niedermeier.

According to Niedermeier, it is not yet clear exactly how the evening will play out.

"It's going to be a dip in the ice-cold water for us," he says with a smile.

Nevertheless, in addition to District Administrator Olaf von Löwis, a number of mayors had also confirmed their attendance.

The head of the department for foreigners and asylum matters at the district office is also available for questions.

Niedermeier is also planning to group employers by sector in order to make it easier for job seekers to find their way around and make contact based on their respective qualifications and interests.

To keep the atmosphere as relaxed as possible, the talks should largely take place at standing tables, says Niedermeier.

Since the Ukrainians who have only recently arrived are mostly fluent in English but not yet good in German, there are interpreters on site.

In perspective, however, the language does not have to be a hurdle, emphasizes the integration officer.

The adult education centers and volunteers would offer German courses at all levels.

Schools and daycare centers are also committed to relieving future employees of the worries of childcare in the best possible way.

One thing is certain for Niedermeier: Every worker helps to at least somewhat cushion the shortage of personnel in many sectors.

Even if it's only for a limited time.
